The gentle rhythm of each day at Unity gives our children a sense of security and continuity. As each day unfolds, the children know what to expect but still look forward to countless surprises, both planned and spontaneous.
For the youngest ones, we structure the day to help ease the child’s separation from home. The oldest children, four- and five-year olds, now accustomed to preschool, follow a routine more like what they’ll experience when they move on to kindergarten. In our five classrooms, daily activities are infused with opportunities to grow socially and emotionally, mentally and physically.
With gentle guidance from their teachers, our children come to internalize the all-important life lessons of preschool: making friends, sharing, expressing and controlling feelings, fitting into a group, and finding one’s own way. They gain control of their bodies, sharpen their minds and their senses, and grow in confidence and awareness — all while having a tremendous amount of fun.
